emergent: (adj.) in the process of coming into being; arising as an effect of complex causes and not analyzable simply as the sum of their effects; arising and existing only as a phenomenon of independent parts working together, and not predictable on the basis of their properties.
ink: (noun) a colored fluid used for writing, drawing, or printing; a black liquid ejected by a cuttlefish, octopus, or squid to confuse a predator.
emergent ink is a place for Paul Bruno (that’s me) to write about things that interest him (me). If some of those things seem connected, that could indicate an emergent property of this electronic ink. It could also mean that you share some of my concerns. Which may only be delusions.
ink is also a verb, with several meanings: to mark (words or a design) with ink; to cover something (type or a stamp) with ink before printing; to secure the services of someone with a contract. emergent ink is a place for me to leave a mark, to write about things that interest me (cover them, if you will). This is not quite a portfolio, though it will obviously give a sense of the way I write. Not a true sense. The SMNO pieces can be more wordy than web writing should be, for example. And some of my opinions could work more in the way of squid ink, as far as “selling my skill” goes. Until I get a real business “front end” site, this will have to do. For now, if you’re interested in securing my services, send me an email.
