What’s Happening?

Pop quiz:

“Using innuendo and implication to encourage Americans to believe as fact some things that were unclear and possibly false… and other things that were overplayed or completely wrong”

This statement could be referring to

A) The Bush Administration’s use of ‘propaganda’ (according to ex-Press Secretary Scott McClellan) to push for the invasion of Iraq

B) The Clinton campaign’s use of ‘propaganda’ to suggest that there is a mathematical possibility that Hillary Clinton can win the Democratic nomination

One of these is far more serious than the other. But as I was listening to Keith Olbermann interview Scott McClellan this evening, one thing stood out for me. That was when Olbermann talked about how the media failed us because it didn’t push back hard enough. In a sense, they were complicit, Olbermann suggested.

I’d like to erase the last seven plus years. Not only because I’d like to be seven years younger. But we don’t get to do that. I’ll settle for avoiding some of the bad things about the past seven plus years.

This morning I had to listen as another Clintonite, Lanny Davis this time, went on about how Hillary Clinton “has won the popular vote” and “polls better” and is “the better candidate” and was able to get away with, how can I put this… using innuendo and implication to encourage Americans to believe as fact some things that were unclear and possibly false, and other things that were overplayed or completely wrong.

If the press can’t call Hillary Clinton on this nonsense, on her changing positions about the Michigan and Florida primaries, and hold her accountable, and if the American people can’t hold her accountable, and if she can keep on keeping on the way she has been, then I guess we deserve what we got for the last seven plus years. The delegate math is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact, only we’re willing to act otherwise, seemingly because it’s entertaining or “fair” to have this so-called “indecision.” There is no indecision. Enough is enough.
