NY Times: Mars Lander Transmits Photos of Arctic Terrain
There’s a video near the bottom of that link that shows how the Phoenix Lander slows from 12,500 mph and lands on Mars. That’s a pretty neat trick. Phoenix Lander covered the last three million miles of its trip in three days.
There are large amounts of subsurface ice in the Martian arctic. That water could hold evidence proving whether life ever arose on Mars.
