It looks like people are finally starting to appreciate Peak Oil. This Memorial Day weekend will be a big test to see whether the high price of gas is going to have an impact on demand. There is still a chance that prices will come down a little as a result of a reduction in demand—but that does not mean the crisis is over, or not real, or gone away to the far future. Demand has to drop a lot, and permanently, as we get ready for the world Post Oil.

We should care whether our government (local, state, and federal) gets the importance of this issue and how they deal with it. A recent poll shows that the American people recognize the problem, and don’t think government does, yet.
There is a lot to discuss, starting with how individuals can be prepared for transition. It can be overwhelming to think about some of the things we need to do to protect and provide for ourselves and our families. Eventually, we will also have to consider what we do as communities. That’s where something like Transition Network can be useful.
